What it means to be a Knight

The Delaware Knights Soccer Club (DKSC) is the competitive soccer program of the Delaware Soccer Association (DSA) with boys and girls teams from U8 Academy through U19.

DKSC teams play their regular season games in the Ohio Champions League (OCL), the Central Ohio Premier League (COPL), or the Ohio State Premier League (OSPL) and participate in at least two tournaments in the Fall season and two in the Spring season.

DKSC is uniquely committed to the long-term development of its players by providing competitive opportunities at the appropriate levels, where hard work and commitment to team goals are rewarded.

Our outstanding community volunteer base, professional coaching, and management make playing for DKSC a unique experience with life-long memories.

  • The DKSC season opens in August and closes at the end of October. The Spring season opens in March and closes at the end of May. Teams will run 2-3 training sessions per week with 8-10 games per season. U9-U19 will have 1-2 tournaments per season, two in the Fall and 1-2 in the Spring (these are included in fees).

Academy will have 8-10 games per season with one tournament in the Fall and one tournament in the Spring.

There are opportunities for the Knights to participate in Winter training and some teams compete in winter indoor leagues as well. These Winter opportunities are recommended but are completely optional. DKSC also runs a camp during the summer and a camp during winter.

  • All players selected for a DKSC team will play in competitive club games and tournaments. Due to the competitive focus of DKSC club teams, this general rule does not equate to equal playing time for all players. Playing time for individual players can vary and is determined by the respective DKSC coach. The DKSC coach’s decisions will be based on various coach observations and factors across practices and games, including performance, skill, commitment, and conduct. Players are expected to commit to the team and put forth their best effort at practices and games. Commitment, attendance, and effort may impact playing time. To ensure optimum team results, it is the DKSC coach’s decision to position players where they can best help the team. No player is guaranteed to play any specific position.

  • DKSC tries to balance winning and sportsmanship; exhibiting self-control and not putting too much emphasis on “winning-at-all-costs.” Winning is an important part of the program, but it is not the only important aspect. We instruct coaches to attempt to place equal emphasis on developing all players in game and practice scenarios by balancing competition, development and winning.

  • DKSC Players and Coaches should conduct themselves in a positive and responsible manner and act as ambassadors of DKSC, its sponsors and the sport. Players and parents are representatives of DKSC on and off the fields. Misconduct while participating in a DKSC event can be grounds for discipline. The DKSC Code of Conduct states “All players, coaches, parents, team and league representatives shall conduct themselves in an acceptable manner and shall be subject to disciplinary actions from their coaches or official representatives of DKSC during the Soccer Season.“

Tryouts

Late May / Early June

Delaware, OH

DKSC players are selected through a tryout process which takes place in late May or early June, with supplemental tryouts being held as needed. Tryouts are held over a two day period for each age group. Each tryout session will last approximately 1.5 hours. Potential players must attend at least one session to be eligible for initial selection. It is highly recommended that all players attend all sessions to be properly evaluated. The more opportunities the evaluators have to see your player, the better their evaluation will be.
